Be a part of the largest community cleanup in Southeastern Louisiana!

In August 2022, Pontchartrain Conservancy will join communities around the world to clean up the areas surrounding our waterways.

Beach Sweep is held in conjunction with the International Coastal Cleanup sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy. Volunteers and partners will help clean up the areas that drain into Lake Pontchartrain by cleaning curbs, ditches, streets, and storm drains within their communities. Volunteers will track where, how much, and what kinds of litter collected in the Clean Swell App or by emailing us. Pontchartrain Conservancy forwards this data to the Ocean Conservancy to be included in its International Coastal Cleanup master database of marine debris.

Our goal is to engage the public in a stewardship activity that benefits neighborhoods across the Pontchartrain Basin, promotes a healthy and bountiful estuary, and connects community members to our educational programming, including service learning and professional development.
